Event planners love nothing more than a challenge! Welcome to the events from home social media challenge. If you have never met me before, I am Amanda Thurlow, event planner and event industry blogger. Two things I love to talk about are events and social media. The global event industry may be ground to a halt due to the COVID19 outbreak but let's use the power of social media keep its spirit alive online.
If there is one thing the event industry is it is creative. So, let's connect with each other, use our creativity, showcase to the world what our industry does best, whilst raising money for the Meeting Needs charity.... all from home. Intrigued? Let me tell you how:
Usually event professionals would be delivering great experiences all across the globe but have been stopped in their tracks. Why not channel your need to be planning again (I know you are itching to be back hosting events) into this challenge to recreate a MICE experience from home, keeping within the latest Government safety guidelines for your country. There are four simple steps:
You can recreate anything from the meeting, incentive, conference and events industry. Convention Bureaus and DMCs showcase your destinations, Incentive travel companies show us what you would normally be planning or what you have planned post pandemic, event planners show us your favourite client or fam trip experiences. The only limit is your imagination. Follow along on the events from home Instagram and Twitter accounts, where your posts will be shared, to see how others are getting involved.
Here are some social media posts to offer you some inspiration:
Glastonbury recreated in Lego
This is brilliant! Well worth watching.
International Dance Day around the world
Yes it's me and technically not events related but maybe dance classes could be part of a MICE experience.
Quarantine Travel Challenge
Travel bloggers have been posting lock down versions of their travel photos.
Create your post on any channel but share on Instagram or Twitter using the hashtag to be included in the challenge so they can be shared from the Events from home accounts. (Instagram)(Twitter) It is not a competition and anyone across the event industry is welcome to get involved. It is a light hearted bit of fun to raise money for charity. Let's see your creativity #eventprofs and let's celebrate the amazing industry that we will go back to in real life when we can meet again!
Once you have shared your post don't forget to donate to Meetings Need here:
(Please note that by covering the processing fee more of the money raised will be donated to the charity. Please select this option when making your donation)
